Splash out is an event for children with Autism
Splash out is an event for children with Autism to have a fun day at the beach in and out the water. This year had a fantastic turn out with 18 young people taking part and 25 volunteers there to help them. Each child gets a dedicated surf buddy who is by their side for the whole day and the children certainly keep them on their toes! Libby was buddied with an amazing little dude whom has been taking part in the Splash out experience for the past 3 years. The progress he has made and his confidence in the water has improved massively he certainly is a bundle full of energy! There was running, digging holes, more running, more hole digging, splashing around in the water and we had a nice little wave to catch on a board too!
Autistic children are so amazing
They overcome so much and we think they can all teach us a little something! A brilliant and successful day had by all that zoomed by …before we knew it children were falling asleep and we were all having an ice cream!
The event is all volunteer led
Without people coming forward to give up their time these young people might not get the chance to have these experiences, and they are so important for them. We at Board Games surfing really believe that if you want to do something you should be able to, so if you want to get out in the sea then do it! Loads of local businesses support this event too and without some large contributors it would not be able to happen so a massive thanks should go out to the Pembrokeshire organisations that are just so giving…to name a few Oakwood theme park, Milford Haven Port Authority, Puravida Boardriders and the fab Round Table….the list is endless really!
